Hello Everyone! My name is Punit Mahajan and I’m a 20-year-old digital marketer from India. In mid-2014, I stumbled upon this vast universe of blogging and digital marketing and since then, there’s no looking back! After exploring and experimenting for a year or two, I have now narrowed down my focus to Instagram marketing. Building and Managing client accounts, increasing traffic and delivering results is something I’m quite enthusiastic about.

I also maintain a blog – bloggerpunit.com where I share my experiences as an Instagram Profile Builder. I mention various tips, as well as nooks and crooks for increasing followers, designing content, using tools to enhance look and feel of your profile and so on. My main aim is to help my audience understand “How to leverage Instagram for building your targeted social following.”

Why did you decide to start your blog or business?

I have always been a tech enthusiast. I love trying new gadgets, learning new technologies and exploring the world of computers. The main goal of starting my blog was to get myself out in the digital space and dig into various channels for earning online.

What was your biggest struggle getting started?

The biggest struggle was articulating my knowledge in a presentable manner. The fact that my first language (or even second language for that matter) isn’t English, introduced a few hindrances along the way. But then I started reading books, online material and practiced writing to overcome it.

What is the main mission or purpose of your blog or business?

The main goal of my blog is to provide a one-stop solution for Instagram marketing. Right from creating an Instagram account, designing content, to interacting with your customers or getting sales. I want people to remember my blog for best Instagram tutorials online.

Through my blog, I want to help businesses achieve results on Instagram and let Instagram be their prime social marketing channel. Especially since the recent update, getting traction on the social giant has become difficult.

What do you believe to be the most rewarding part of your work?

The best part is the satisfaction of knowing I’m putting something worthwhile out there for those that feel lost in this sea of Social Media. Helping people harness the power at their fingertips so that they can take their dream businesses to a wider audience gives me a thrill. Financial freedom that comes along is a cherry on the cake.

What obstacles have been thrown your way while trying to grow your business?

My first hurdle was securing initial funds to set up my blog. Hosting was another expense that I needed to cover. Besides, as I mentioned before, mastering English was another battle altogether.

How did you overcome that obstacle?

I managed to convince my father to let me use his debit card to buy my first domain. I hosted my tech blog on a friend’s shared hosting, promising to pay him back after a year. This is how I began my online journey. Improving my writing skills was tough but I started borrowing books and reading them which helped me improve a great deal.

What was the best piece of advice you’ve received along the way?

A friend once told me, “Don’t focus on finding ways to earn money online, instead focus on developing skills like content writing, marketing, designing and Facebook ads marketing which will make you dollars in long run.”

What is the biggest accomplishment you’ve achieved through your work to date?

The first is ranking my desired keyword on the first page of Google.

My second big achievement was getting 10k pageviews in a day for the first time followed by earning my first 100$ from Adsense.

Is there 1 major lesson that you’ve learned from business ownership that stands out to you?

In the course of my online journey, I tested quite a couple of methods for generating more income. Some worked, some didn’t.

I was trying each and everything that I laid my eyes on hoping to make more money. After a few hits and misses, I realized what works for others, may not work for me. For all this, having passion is a must. Passion helps you last longer!

What does success look like to you?

Success for me is not just about getting to the destination. Of course, I am delighted when I reach it but I am more interested in overcoming my struggles in course of time.

I don’t believe in measuring success on a materialistic scale. I would rather measure it in terms of my relationship to those close to me, places that I’ve traveled to that thrill me to my core and my hard-earned experiences.

What makes you truly happy?

Achieving my desired goals and looking back at how far I’ve come.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to follow their passion?

If you don’t know what you’re passionate about, try out everything and then figure out what you enjoy the most.

One trick that I use here is I ask myself the following question: If you are forced to do <your passion> for next 3 years without any appreciation. Would you do it?

What book would you recommend for us to read?

My top three books include:

  1. Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert T. Kiyosaki
  2. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
  3. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson

Where can we find you online?

This is my first interview online! I would like to thank Cath for interviewing me on her blog. I look forward to sharing my experiences with the TCB community!

Thank You!
