Hey there, digital bestie! I’m Cathrin, but you can call me Cath to make it easy.
I’m so beyond grateful that you landed on this little website and I can’t wait to show you all the possibilities that your life has to offer.
But before we really get started, I want to take a moment to share my story.
In 2014, I experienced a series of traumatic events that ultimately lead to feelings of victimization, severe anxiety and depression. And I ended up wasting the next 2 years of my life just going through the motions.
At this point, I completely stopped taking care of myself. I ate whatever I wanted, I didn’t exercise, I didn’t wash my body, I didn’t do anything that I actually loved, and I followed whatever path was handed to me.
When someone would ask me a question that was directed to who I was or what I believed, I would just start crying. All you had to ask was why my favorite color was yellow and cue the waterworks.
So picture this.
It was a weekday night in October of 2016 when I was sitting on the couch with my dog Fancy eating ice cream for dinner. And as I was sitting there, it was like I ran into a brick wall and all in 1 moment, I realized that…
- I hated my job,
- I hated the town that I was living in,
- I hated my body,
And most importantly… I hated myself.
Back then, I often told myself that I didn’t deserve to be happy. That this was just the way my life was going to be and that there was nothing I could do about it. That I had to settle for my desk job because that’s the responsible adult thing to do.
But something inside of me said that I was destined for more. That if I stayed on the same path I would be dead before the time I turned 30.
So on that October night, I decided to take my life into my own hands.
That night, I created my blog TheContentBug.com.
1 month later, I moved out of that college town and into a town filled with small businesses and other creative individuals that inspire me on a daily basis.
And almost exactly 1 year later, I left my full-time desk job to work for myself full-time.
But most importantly, over that year I uncovered who I really was, I’ve learned to accept myself for everything that I am and everything that I’m not, and I discovered what my purpose is in this life. Now I live out my days trying to fulfill it to the best of my ability.
BREAKING SOCIETY’S STANDARDS
Society tells you that once you enter the real world, you have to get a job. You have to sit at a desk 9 to 5 and do what your boss says. You have to go to work Monday through Friday and you can only set your own schedule on the weekends. And if you don’t have a full-time job when you graduate college, then you’re a failure.
But I’m calling BS!
What if you could actually love what you do? What if you could wake up on a Monday and feel excited to get to work? What if you could work on the weekends for fun because you genuinely love what you do?
And what if you could set your own schedule and do whatever the heck you wanted every day?
Now that’s a life that I want to live.
I mean think about it: most people live for the weekends. They would be happy if the week just consisted of only Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. But with this mindset, most people spend over 57% of their lives miserable.
It’s sad. And I think it’s time that we break societies standards of what a career is.
I believe that you can create a career that you love simply by following your passions. I believe that you don’t have to be miserable just to make money. I believe that you should be able to live your life just the way you want to.
Are you with me?!
