How To Take Festive Instagram Pictures This Holiday Season

The holiday season is in full swing! And if you’re running out of ideas on how to create the perfect holiday Instagram feed, I GOT YOU!

This is my first year creating a holiday Instagram feed.

Before, I kinda ignored the seasons.

Sure in the summer there were some photos taken outside. And sure during the fall, I shared some stereotypical leaf photos.

BUT! This holiday season is different.

Because I’ve completely fallen in love with theming my Instagram feed for the holidays!

I’m talking every. single. picture!

So today I wanted to share some tips on how you too can create a cohesive holiday Instagram feed. All starting with your pictures.

Let’s get started!

HOW TO CREATE A HOLIDAY INSTAGRAM FEED

The holiday season is the perfect time to play up those reds and greens, twinkle lights, and of course, sweaters!

But creating a cohesive holiday Instagram feed is much harder than that.

This year, I’m really working on making all the pictures look like they flow together. And I’m doing that in a couple of ways.

1. Incorporating red into every photo

Typically, I steer far away from any color! I’m an all black, white, and gray kind of gal.

But once I shared the first picture with some red in it, I knew that I had to stick with it!

A pop of red helps to make it look like all the photos belong together.

And it really makes it stand out from the rest of the other photos on my Instagram.

2. Pose with holiday decor

My house is decked out with holiday decor! So it’s easy to find new spots to take pictures.

But this isn’t always the case.

In my office, I was fake stinging up some lights to make it look festive. So that’s always an option!

Or you can take pictures outside with the town’s holiday decorations if you’re running out of ideas.

3. Play up the whites

Usually, my photos have a lot of white in them.

But this holiday season I’m really playing up the whites. And making them whiter than white!

Not that that’s even possible. But you get what I’m saying.

I’m overexposing the images for a reason.

The holiday season reminds people of snow and white outdoors. There is much less green than summer!

So I want to remind people of that snowy feeling by making my pictures extra white!

4. Use lights when possible

I’ve been LOVING those fairy or twinkle lights this year.

They are one of the easiest ways to make your photos look festive.

And the best part is that they are only a couple of bucks on Amazon or at Target if you need them today!

HOW I EDIT MY HOLIDAY INSTAGRAM FEED

I keep changing how I edit my Instagram photos.

And this holiday season is no different!

I decided to create my own Lightroom preset on my iPhone to make it even easier to make my photos look like they flow.
